SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 41274,

28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the rib engraved in script 'The Royal' and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. BRUTON STREET. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, hand-detachable lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguard, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the underside with an elaborate cartouche engraved 'THE ROYAL' the triggerguard tang gold-inlaid with the serial number, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 15 3/4in. well-figured replacement stock (with sweep at comb towards central vision, chip to left underhorn) including 1in. rubber recoil pad, weight 7lb. 5oz.

Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that the gun was made
as No.1 of a pair in 1997 for The Right Honourable The Lord Prior in 1997.

James Michael Leathes Prior, Baron Prior (11th October 1927 - 12 December 2016), educated at Charterhouse and Pembroke College Cambridge was a British Conservative politician, serving in two Conservative cabinets. Under Edward Heath he served as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food before becoming Leader of the House of Commons in 1973 and subsequently as Secretary of State for Employment under Margaret Thatcher. After retiring from politics in 1984, he went on to become Chairman of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce from 1996 to 2004 and was also chairman and vice president of the Rural Housing Trust.
