28in. nitro barrels (replacements by the makers, No.1 proof dated 1981, No.2 proof dated 1995), the ribs engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS. 63. PALL MALL. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON.' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke (both), treble-grip actions, removable striker discs, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', border and flowing acanthus scroll engraving, pins reblued, 14 3/4in. figured stocks with fully scroll-engraved steel heel and toe plates, weight 6lb. 9oz. (No.1) 6lb. 5oz. (No.2), in their makers brass-cornered oak and leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this pair was commissioned in 18th October 1927 for Prince Shioji as part of a batch of 6. They also confirm that the new barrels were made in 1981
