A RARE .22 TRIPLE-BARRELLED 'BUFFALO-MITRAILLE NO.692' BOLT-ACTION VOLLEY CARBINE, serial no. 82418,
25 1/2in. Hercule triple wreath-steel nitro reproved barrel with three internal bores, file cut matted detailing, band-mounted open sights with two folding leaf sights, matted fronts gold-inlaid 50, 100 and 150, band-mounted bead fore-sight, two serial numbered barrel bands, horn-tipped clearing rod, the receiver and bolt with fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, the bolt marked 'MANUFACTURE FRANCAIS D'ARMES ET CYCLES ST. ETIENNE', 'CARBINE BUFFALO MITRAILLE' and with the Manufrance trademarks, the underside marked with the serial number and 'No.36', retaining much original colour-hardening, 14in. well-figured semi-pistolgrip stock with sling swivels and steel buttplate, weight 6lb. 2oz.

Provenance: In the 1930's Manufrance catalogues, the 'No. 692' Buffalo-Mitraille volley carbine represents the highest grade available of its type, priced at 780Fr (the standard version beginning at 675Fr)
