A 12-BORE 1885 FOSBERY PATENT 'PARADOX' RIFLED-CHOKE SHOT AND BALL 'ROYAL' SIDELOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE, serial no. 15713, with extra shot barrels,
28in. nitro barrels with matt sight rib with leaf sights for 50 and 100 yards, gold bead foresight, tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON. "NITRO-PARADOX" FOSBERY PATENT.', 2 1/2in. chambers, Col. G.Vincent Fosbery V.C. patent rifled chokes, patent no. 7568 of 1885;
28in. nitro shot barrels (Birmingham proofed for 1963), raised matt rib, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 13, BRUTON STREET, LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke;
engraved fences, elongated top-strap, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, chequered front trigger, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the underside with 'THE ROYAL HAMMERLESS' in an elaborate cartouche, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. figured semi-pistolgrip stock (knot at hand), weight 7lb. 5oz. (rifled choke barrels) and 6lb. 15oz. (shot barrels)

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was sold in 1906 as a 12-bore DB hammerless "nitro" Royal Paradox gun.
Details of the sighting and regulation date to June and November of 1904, with '25 grains cordite, H.P. cone bullet' and 'also shot with 42 grains Schultze' 1 1/8g 6', sights 50-100 yards'
