dated for '1877' with ovoid 28in. re-blued barrel with full length matt sighting flat, signed behind and below the rear-sight 'WILKINSON & SON PALL MALL, LONDON' over '577-450 SOLID CASE', ramp and dove-tailed bead fore-sight with side protectors, folding ladder rear-sight with additional standing notch, polished action engraved with geometric panels of scrollwork, the left side signed 'FIELD'S PATENT' over 'NO. 1927' over '1877', the right with large moulded cocking lever and swinging safe, the positions marked 'LEVER LOCKED' and 'LEVER UNLOCKED', figured walnut chequered pistolgrip butt-stock with sling eyes, slightly domed horn grip-cap and chequered horn buttplate, chequered walnut splinter fore-end and brass mounted ebony under-barrel clearing rod
