circa 1865, with octagonal 25 1/2in. barrel, the muzzle radiused for a bayonet (absent) and fitted with a bayonet bar, the top-flat bearing traces of a Buenos-Aires retailer's signature, small dove-tailed blade fore-sight, folding ladder rear-sight with additional standing notch, left side of barrel throat marked 'MEYER'S BREVETE', border and floral engraved action with solid 'Y' shaped top-strap, plain cylinder with en-suite engraving, side loading gate, walnut straight-hand butt-stock chequered at the wrist (some filled repairs), iron heel-plate, complex flat-fronted trigger-guard bow, double action mechanism with spurred hammer and plunge ejector, iron surfaces stained with pitting
