26in. black powder only barrels, partially file cut rib with open sights and two folding leaf sights, marked 50, 150, 200 and 250, bead fore-sight with flip-up moonsight, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON. WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS LONDON 1883', Jones patent rotary-underlever, carved percussion fences, elongated top tang, non-rebounding back-action locks with beaded border engraved flatside dolphin hammers, border engraving, the left side of the action bar engraved 'CHARGE 5 DRAMS CASE 3 1/4 INCHES', triggerguard with light damage, 14 3/4in. pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, steel pistolgrip-cap, sling eyes and horn buttplate, fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 9lb. 10oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed in 1864 for a Mr Watson as a '.500 Bore D Rifle', with 'back action locks, lever over guard, non rebounding locks, pistol hand cheekpiece, lever forend'
