26in. black powder only barrels with raised file cut rib, open sights and folding leaf sight with white metal sight lines and marked 150 and 250, bead fore-sight (likely replaced), the tubes engraved 'JOSEPH LANG & SON. 10. PALL MALL. LONDON.', unsigned treble-grip action with removable striker discs and intercepting sears, slender toplever engraved 'PATENT', automatic safety with blue enamelled 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with ornate flowing stylised scroll bordering, retaining much original colour-hardening and some renewed finish, 14 1/2in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap, sling eyes and partially chequered and engraved steel buttplate, bolstered fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 8lb. 6oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this rifle was made in 1893 for a J.L .Phipps Esq. as a .450 Top Lever Hammerless Rifle with 26" Barrels, 14 1/4" Stock Weighing 8lb 4oz.
