A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, no visible serial number,
German circa 1725, with 36in. swamped blued two-stage sighted barrel with chiselled band at the intersection heightened with gold, silver star-burst fore-sight, breech-section with gold-lined maker's stamps, gold-lined touch-hole, flat bevelled lock signed 'MATH. BRAMHOFFER, AUGSPURG' (sic) and chiselled in low relief with a hunting scene against a blackened ground, inset sculpted and engraved hammer and frizzen bridle, walnut three-quarter stock, border engraved iron mounts, later horn-tipped ramrod.
