AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK MUSKET WITH WHITE METAL MOUNTS, SIGNED TOWER, no visible serial number,
circa 1800 and mounted in the French style but with 53in. Persian barrel carved with a shallow raised sighting rib inlaid with white metal stars and arrows terminating in an engraved arabesque panel at the muzzle, applied white metal trench fore-sight, the breech with inlaid adulation or false signature with further engraved longitudinal borders, stamped oval maker's mark, engraved brass top-tang, re-purposed military style lock signed 'TOWER' and with a 'G.R.' crown device below the pan, dark walnut full-stock in the french style with bordered chequered panel at the wrist, carved and moulded comb, substantial white metal heel-plate, both sides of butt inlaid with white-metal crossed laurel branches below an eight pointed star, white-metal pillar trigger-guard with raised tang, four substantial embossed and pierced white metal barrel-bands (out of position due to wood shrinkage), white metal rectangular swivels mounted to the side-plate and a bow-tie mount on the fore-end and turned iron ramrod
