28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON, ENGLAND', and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, self-opening actions with removable striker discs, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, cocking-indicators, the actions, lockplates and furniture profusely engraved with Purdey's best 'large scroll' stylised acanthus work, the fences carved in high relief with oak leaves and acorns, the lockplates signed 'J PURDEY & SONS' in cartouches, the undersides with 'J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON. ENGLAND', bright and blued finish overall, 15in. highly-figured stocks, the fore-ends engraved en suite and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', weight 6lb. 9oz. and 6lb. 10oz., in their lightweight leather motor case, the lid outer marked 'VISCOUNT HAMBLEDEN. THE MANOR HOUSE. HAMBLEDEN. HENLEY-ON-THAMES'
