Product Details

A RARE CHILD'S NOVELTY DART-RIFLE FOR A BOY SIGNED 'L.W. LONDON', MODEL 'HARMLESS', no visible serial number,
circa 1910, with nickel-plated 18in. 'barrel', fore-sight moulded on the nose-cap, two position hinged rear-sight, nickel-plated slab-sided receiver with integral chequered semi pistol-grip, slab-sided walnut butt-stock with heavy nickel-plated and chequered heel-plate, the right hand side of stock stamped 'L.W. LONDON' and 'HARMLESS', guarded trigger and three-quarter length plain walnut fore-end, together with three later suction-cup darts, much original finish throughout

Other Notes: This 'Rolls-Royce' of children's toys was probably produced in Germany before World War One. To fire, a single dart is muzzle-loaded into the barrel until the action cocks. The rifle is then aimed and fired in the conventional fashion.
