LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, action with patent gas checks, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, border and bold acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright finish overall, 15in. replacement stock, fore-end with Anson & Deeley patent release catch, weight 6lb. 11oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed as a 'No.3 back action model' with 30in. barrels for Howard Guinness in July 1896. The records also indicate that the engraving was performed by Osborne.
