MERRILL BALTO / PAT. JUL7 1858 / APL 9 MAY 21-28-61' and 'eagle & shield' stamp, and date '1863' behind hammer, all steel furniture, steel back-strap and butt-cap, wooden stock with faint martial cartouches, rammer removed, cleaned of finish
