A SCARCE .52 RIMFIRE SINGLE-SHOT CARBINE SIGNED SHARPS, MODEL '1862 SHARPS-HANKINS', serial no. 6277, circa 1864, with 19in. shortened barrel sliding forwards on opening, blade fore-sight, tangent rear-sight, recessed breech, slab-sided receiver marked 'SHARP'S PATENT 1859' on the left and 'SHARPS & HANKINS PHILADA' on the right hand side, central hammer, provision for saddle-ring (missing), under-lever forming the trigger-guard and walnut butt-stock with brass heel-plate (leather repair at wrist)
