A BRITISH 1796 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICER'S DRESS-SWORD
circa 1805, with double edged 33 3/4in. blade with narrow central fuller blind at the forte (some staining), gilded brass heart-shaped guard split by the carved knuckle-bow quillion (reverse quillion missing), 'D' shaped knuckle-bow carved at the join with the faceted urn-shaped pommel, wire-bound swollen grip, complete with its black leather scabbard with gilded brass mounts, the throat signed 'FOSTER, SWORD CUTLER TO HIS MAJESTY, PRINCE OF WALES, DUKE OF YORK, 1 ST. JAMES'S STREET' (rubbed, losses to gilding)
