for 1808, with twist iron 30in. barrels, the top rib of sunken form, bead fore-sight, needles engraved to the rib-end at breech, the top of breech-block inlet with gold poincons signed 'MANTON LONDON' in raised letters along with a crown, platinum touch-holes, border and trophy engraved top-tang featuring further needles within the sighting groove (light pitting), border engraved locks signed 'MANTON' with small game-scenes at the tail (rubbed), border engraved hammers, waterproof pans and roller bearings to the frizzen springs, the left hand lock also with roller to the sear leg, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron heel-plate with engraved top-spur, trigger guard bow engraved with a hunting dog, white metal oval barrel key escutcheons and brass mounted mahogany ramrod, TOGETHER WITH its makers mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in green baize and containing a number of period accessories including a period powder flask and shot-flask, later cleaning rods and leather flint wallet with combination tool, the locks stored dismounted, the interior of lid with small numbered parchment trade-label and hook closure
