A .54 SINGLE-SHOT USA MARSHAL PERCUSSION PISTOL SIGNED H. ASTON, MODEL 'US 1842', no visible serial number, with 8 1/2in. smooth-bore barrel, lock-plate marked 'US / H. ASTON' and 'MIDDtn / CONN. / 1849', wooden stock with two military inspection cartouches and repaired split by back-plate screw, brass back-strap, butt-cap and trigger-guard, steel captured rammer with underbarrel recess partly blocked causing the rammer to protrude beyond the end of the barrel.
