NEW BOND ST. LONDON.', and 'PATENT' at the breech end, incorporating Westley Richards first patent single-bite toplever snap-action, patent no. 2506 of 11th September 1862, use number 21, carved serpentine fences, toplever return spring at fault, non-rebounding sidelocks with flat side dolphin hammers, bar-in-wood, the fore-end meeting at the knuckle in a crab joint, bold acanthus scroll engraving, 14in. figured stock (cracked and repaired through hand) with steel buttplate, the fore-end with ornate horn finial, weight 6lb. 4oz.
