ANSELL & CO. 1865 PATENT PUSH-FORWARD UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 481, circa 1870, 30in. nitro reproved (likely replacement) fine damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'CROCKART. 44. GEORGE ST. PERTH', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke, Ansells (provisional) patent action, patent no. 124 of 14th January 1865, slender carved serpentine fences, rebounding sidelocks with carved low profile hammers, the firing pins silver-inlaid 'LOADED' and a marker line, the underlever operating a single 'T' section locking bolt, the face engraved 'WILLIAM ANSELLS PATENT' and with central flush retracting stud, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, reblued finish, 14 3/4in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock (poor partial attempt to rechequer) with horn pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, weight 6lb. 10oz.
