AN IMPRESSIVE 8-BORE PERCUSSION FOWLER BY HOLLIS CIRCA 1850, no visible serial number, with 43 in. twist two stage octagonal to round barrel with under-rib for rammer, the breech with some foliate decoration and one narrow gold and one platinum bands, the long fixed breech tang engraved to match, foliate engraved back-action lock bearing the makers name 'HOLLIS' in small letters of the tail, figured walnut half-stock fitted with foliate scroll engraved mounts, the gun has been totally refurbished overall, the barrel rebrowned over some light speckling, the butt-plate and trigger-guard reblued, the lock, hammer, fixed breech and fore-pipe colour case hardened, the stock and chequering refreshed, complete with brass mounted ebonised rammer
