A .600 CONTINENTAL FLINTLOCK JAEGER STYLE RIFLE BY DANIEL LAGATZ CIRCA 1800, no visible serial number, 30 in octagonal barrel with slightly swamped muzzle and multi-groove rifling, replacement fixed vee rear-sight, some engraved decoration at breech and the makers name inset in gold, 'DANIEL LAGATZ', the replacement lock with bevelled edge, stepped tail and borderline engraving signed to centre 'W. BAILES' and fitted with a swan-neck cock, full walnut stock carved in relief along top edge to barrel, the rammer channel, lock fixed breech and trigger-guard, the butt with raised cheekpiece with carved decoration, the stylized brass mounts, including scroll trigger-guard are all exquisitely engraved the butt plate and side plate with hunting scenes, the other brass work with foliate scroll work, wooden patchbox cover missing, rod a modern and incorrect replacement
