A .577-450 MARTINI HENRY DRILL PURPOSE MK I CAVALRY CARBINE, ENFIELD CIRCA 1885, serial no. 986, with 21 in. barrel fitted with correct carbine ladder rear-sight and wing protected blade fore-sight, filled saw cut at breech, knox form stamped 'D.P' drill purpose, the action stamped with the Crown V.R. cypher, 'ENFIELD / 1885 / I.C.1', two piece walnut stock, the forend retained by two barrel bands, the butt is a replacement from a Mk III Martini Henry rifle and is fully ordnance marked and also has D.P. markings brass butt-plate also a replacement, the carbine has most deep blue finish from period refurbished, large repair to toe of butt
