A .65 PATTERN 1858 NATIVE INFANTRY PERCUSSION MUSKET CIRCA 1860, no visible serial number, with 39 in. smoothbore barrel, block and blade front-sight and replacement ladder rear-sight probably from a Martini Enfield or Long Lee, the borderline engraved lock, stamped with the Queen's cypher and '1859 / Tower', brass mounted full walnut stock, this pattern of arm was approved in 1858 for issue to Sepoy Regiments in the East India Governments army who due to mistrust after the mutiny were issued arms inferior in accuracy and range to British regiments, the P58 was produced from worn P53 rifles, an out of India gun
