PURDEY 12-BORE ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 6562, for 1863, 30in. replacement black powder barrels (post 1887), the rib engraved 'THOMAS HORSLEY & SON. MAKERS YORK.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, internally pitted and off the face, conversion from pinfire with built-up standing breech, carved serpentine fences of pinfire form, missing nipples and strikers, the triggerguard and tang forming the screw-grip underlever with grip safety, non-rebounding back-action locks, damage to underside of bar from front lump, bold acanthus scroll engraving (some wear), brushed finish, 14 5/8in. figured stock including steel buttplate (damage at toe), fore-end wood with wear and repairs, weight 6lb. 9oz.
