A PATTERN 1845 INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, circa 1850, with 32 1/4 in. double-fullered stained blade, finely etched both sides with scroll-work and V R and crown cypher, brass proof plug inset into ricasso, with 'LANDON / & MORELAND / 17 / JERMYN St / LONDON' over, brass Gothic hilt with V R and crown cypher and folding guard, wire-bound fishskin grip, worn sword-knot, worn and repaired black leather scabbard with ornate but dented brass fittings, the reverse of the locket engraved 'H. BLACKMORE / 55 BROOK STREET / BOND STREET / LONDON', with the lower part of the chape worn away exposing the blade tip, 38 in. overall
