A PATTERN 1882 CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD, early 1880s, with plain 33in. single-edged blade fullered on both sides, ricasso marked with WD, broad arrow 'YC' bend test 'X' and reissue date of 12.90 on one side of ricasso and an issue date of 9/85 and Birmingham repair inspection mark of /95 to the other side, steel guard with pierced Maltese Cross, pressed leather grips, together with its steel scabbard, blade with edge nicks, some staining and pitting, guard with rusting and pitting, scabbard stained, pitted and with shallow dents
