circa 1860s, with 32 1/4in. double-fullered blade etched both sides, with 'V R' crown and sun-burst to one side, and 'NORTHAMPTONSHIRE / RIFLE / VOLUNTEERS' to other, inset brass proof slug and 'T. AYRES / LATE / PARFITT & Co. / 75 / JERMYN St' on ricasso, rusted hilt with fish-skin grip bound with copper wire, pierced guard with crown and hanging bugle, steel scabbard with some rust and shallow dents, throat screws missing, 39in. overall
