Other Notes: Mainly for Egyptian police use, the Mk III was developed to prevent unauthorised criminal use due to the prevalent corruption in Egypt at the time. The police were provided with special 'bottle-necked' cartridges not available to the general populace, these cartridges were specially designed with an annular groove which married up with two lugs protruding from the action face, meaning that if incorrect cartridges were loaded, the mechanism would not close.
