A SCARCE BRASS-HILTED PRUSSIAN SIDEARM, MODEL 1849 'FASCHINEMESSER' circa 1857, with straight single-edged 18 3/4in. spear-point blade false edged at the tip, maker's mark of 'S.H' at the forte, brass 'S' shaped cross-guard with crowned 'F.W.' device and marked variously '39.R.', '57' & '6.1887', solid brass grip ribbed on the left hand face and swollen bun pommel, blade stained and frosted
