A SCARCE .177 BREAK-BARREL AIR-RIFLE, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'THE ANSONIA', no visible serial number, circa 1912, with octagonal 17in. rifled barrel (heavily refinished, edges rounded), dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, cast air-chamber with hinged barrel catch on the left-hand side marked 'ANSON'S BOLT ACTION', trigger unit marked diagonally 'THE ANSONIA', ribbed trigger, chequered half-pistol grip butt-stock (crack at wrist), the left side of butt stamped 'E. ANSON & CO 14 STEELHOUSE LANE BIRM.', top of comb with oval escutcheon, iron heel-plate and exposed cocking link (later painted finish with some shallow pitting)
