Product Details

A COMPETENTLY PRODUCED 1.5IN. = 1FT. SCALE WOODEN MODEL OF A WILTSHIRE WAGGON, the model is accompanied with a letter:

WILTSHIRE WAGGON.

it is likely that the waggon was made in West Wiltshire.
It is very similar to the West Gloucestershire waggons except that the latter are shallower in the body and the front board construction lacks the upright standards.

The wheels of the Wiltshire were 6in. wide and the tread consisted of either 1 large or a set of narrower hooped strakes.

This particular waggon was found in 1979 at Ashridge near Berkhamsted, Herts. where it was being used in the making of the film "The Devils Disciple".

During the making of the film the shafts, tailboard and ladders were lost and the waggon was virtually destroyed when it was overturned.

However, before this, it was photographed and measured by David Wray and the model has been made from his detailed drawings.
