circa 1800, with large rectangular storage box mounted on splayed feet, the right hand side with hinged border and florally engraved trapdoor locking on a sliding catch, flat sided oval tinder-pan above covered with an iron steel, squared boxlock central hammer action signed within a spray of flowers 'T. MORTIMER & SONS' on the left and 'LONDON' within a stand of flags on the right, walnut slab-sided butt and engraved iron trigger-guard bow, the left hand side of storage box with mount for candle holder (holder absent)
