A 28-BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED OFFICER'S or TARGET PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number, French or Belgian circa 1840, with twist-steel 9 3/4in. octagonal barrel marked for '1' of a pair, adjustable rear-sight, engraved hump-backed lock with dipped tail, walnut half-stock with fluted grip, no provision for ramrod, the left side of stock crudely marked 'FROM CHATEAU OF VERIER NEAR SEDAN', in a later leather case, hinge gone
