circa 1890, with heavy octagonal 31 1/2in. barrel, raised longitudinal dove-tail for the first third of the barrel for a rear-sight (absent), dove-tailed pillar fore-sight with side protectors, polished slab-sided receiver signed on the right 'MARTINI TANNER & CO, FRAUENFELD', the left side marked 'MARTINI'S PATENT 1704', adjustable pan-head peep-sight mounted to rear of action, walnut butt-stock with raised cheek-piece and iron Swiss-style heel-plate, iron finger-lever, complex moulded horn palm-rest to underside of trigger-guard bow, smooth walnut half-length fore-end with schnabel tip and held by a single cross-key and iron swivels
