AN INTERESTING CASED 60-BORE PERCUSSION PISTOL WITH WHITE METAL STOCK, SIGNED 'LONDON', no visible serial number,
made for the American market circa 1860, with twist iron octagonal 8 1/4in. smoothbore barrel, the top-flat signed in gilt script 'LONDON' and flanked by gilt 'S' shaped scrolls with gilt running vines and flowers extending onto the top side-flats, engraved breech-block with carved fences for the nipple-boss, border and scroll engraved white metal back-action lock inlet into the white metal saw-handled half-stock, scroll engraved grip flaring at the flat heel and set with a small hinged trap, American eagle and shield engraved opposite the lock, spurred white-metal trigger guard bow, integral fore-end engraved with floral motifs and captive iron stirrup ramrod, complete with its oak storage case, lined and compartmented for this pistol in green baize (label removed) and containing a reproduction flask together with an original scissors mould, loading rod, nipple key, patch and cap-tins
