A BRITISH MIDSHIPMAN'S PATTERN 1887 NAVAL DIRK SIGNED GIEVE MATTHEWS AND SEAGROVE LTD,
circa World War One, with straight spearpoint 17 3/4in. blade etched with arabesques and scrolls around a King's crown and anchor device on the right face and similar but with the Royal cypher on the left (some staining to both sides), maker's name at forte, brass 'S' shaped cross-guard with acorn finials, white sharkskin grip with wire binding and brass back-strap with integral lionshead pommel, complete with its brass mounted leather scabbard with integral locking catch, the throat initialled 'J.E.M.' and numbered '32' on the top-edge
