Product Details

A RARE 2.7mm (KOLIBRI) SEMI-AUTOMATIC VEST-PISTOL SIGNED 'F.P.', MODEL 'KOLIBRI', serial no. 10,
circa 1915, with smoothbore 1 3/8in. slab-sided barrel, slab-sided receiver with ejection port and top-mounted cocking piece, chequered hard rubber grips marked with the initials 'F.P.' and 'KOLIBRI' (one small chip to left rear corner), exposed trigger and detachable magazine, much blued finish remaining.

Provenance: The diminutive little Kolibri pistol is a world record holder twice over. Not only is it the worlds smallest central fire semi automatic pistol, it also takes the worlds smallest centre-fire round of ammunition. The brainchild of Austrian watchmaker Franz Pfannl and with financial help from Georg Grabner, it used flash powder as a propellant to increase apparent effectiveness and was only produced in very small numbers. It was not a commercial success. For a similar pistol, serial number '15', see these rooms, Lot number 805, Sale Number A0320
