A CASED 12-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED UNDER-LEVER SPORTING-GUN, serial no. 4172,
circa 1870, with fine browned rose damascus 30in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'J. BLANCH & SON 29 GRACECHURCH STREET, LONDON', bead fore-sight, the pin apertures engraved with flambé needles, fully borderline and rose-scroll engraved standing breech and top-tang, border and scroll engraved colour hardened back-action locks signed centrally within scrolled banners 'J. BLANCH & SON', figured walnut straight hand butt-stock chequered at the wrist, the heel inlet with a separate toe and a circular heel-plate, scroll engraved rounded action with 'Jones' type swing under-lever, chequered walnut splinter fore-end, the whole retaining much apparently original finish and colour and together with a period mahogany stained walnut case, relined and compartmented in green baize, the lid with reproduction parchment 'Blanch' label, the tray also containing a full suite of pinfire reloading accessories including a sizer/capper, a James Dixon roll turnover tool, a powder measure, a wad plunger and sundries such as a nickel oil bottle and cleaning brushes
