for 1892, with heavy octagonal slightly tapering 30in. barrel, the top signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. USA.' and marked with the calibre at breech, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, plain colour-hardened high-wall falling-block action (slight amount of faded colour remaining), central hammer, the top-tang fitted with a period unsigned micro-adjustable folding peep-sight, walnut straight-hand butt-stock fitted with an iron crescent heel-plate, plain trigger and walnut splinter fore-end with inlaid ebony tip, traces of original finish throughout
