A .360 No.5 (.380 LONG) SINGLE-SHOT ROOK & RABBIT RIFLE, MODEL 'MARTINI PATENT', serial no. 15472,
circa 1900. with 26 3/4in. octagonal barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the top-flat of barrel matted and with vacant panel for retailer's name, breech end marked 'W.T' below a crown (William Tranter?), machine engraved slab-sided receiver with dropping feed-ramp, the left side with 'MARTINI'S PATENT 15472' in a circle around crossed flags over the letter 'B', the right side with thumb safe, a tear-drop cocking indicator and 'JAMES BOTT & SON, BIRMINGHAM' within a folded banner, chequered pistol-grip walnut butt-stock with machine engraved iron heel-plate, ring-tipped under-lever with central chequered panel and chequered walnut splinter fore-end with moulded horn tip.
