PATENTED OCT 11 1887, APRIL 2 1889, AUGUST 1 1893', the left hand top-flat marked in script 'SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL', dove-tailed nickel-bladed fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, solid colour hardened receiver marked on the top 'MARLIN SAFETY', top-tang marked 'MODEL 1893', walnut straight-hand butt-stock with semi-crescent heel-plate, squared finger-lever, plain walnut half-fore-end and full length under-barrel magazine-tube, traces of finish to receiver, much blued finish elsewhere
