AN EXQUISITE CASED PAIR OF MINIATURE 350-BORE PERCUSSION MUFF-PISTOLS, UNSIGNED, no visible serial numbers,
almost certainly Belgian circa 1840 and produced as an apprentice-piece, with turn-off round 1/2in. barrels engraved with longitudinal lines and repeated geometric patterns, scroll engraved squared boxlock actions with off-set dolphin hammers and moulded and shallow fenced snails, bulbous scroll engraved grips of yellow metal and concealed automatic triggers, in a period jewellery-style case covered in green leatherette with embossed borders and gilt detail, the interior with silk-lined lid, the tray lined in red velvet in the continental fashion and including a ball-mould-nipple and barrel-key combination tool for the same pistols
