A .700 PERCUSSION MUSKET, MODEL '1840', serial no. 30923,
dated for 1837 and adapted from the earlier 1808 pattern, with 41 1/4in, sighted round barrel, plain military pattern lock signed in cyrillic 'TULA' and the date, walnut full-stock with raised cheek-piece on the left hand side, brass furniture, the heel plate deeply stamped with a Russian Imperial Eagle and the number '25749', finger-grooved trigger guard tang, sling-swivel forward of bow, serpentine side plate dated '1829', two brass barrel bands, one with swivel and a brass forend nose-cap, iron ramrod, the iron surfaces with light corrosion, some bruises to woodwork.
