circa 1840, with browned 27in. barrels, the raised flat top-rib signed in white metal inlay 'BEHRENDS IN MAGDEBURG', white metal dove-tailed blade fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight, engraved breech-blocks and rib-end, engraved long and narrow top-tang, borderline and acanthus scroll engraved bar-action locks fitted with roller-mounted hinged nipple-guards and carved and engraved dolphin headed hammers, chequered walnut half-stock, the complex chequered panels decorated geometrically with applied white metal pins, carved and raised cheek-piece with relief carved acanthus foliage behind, chequered horn sliding patchbox cover, horn heel-plate with bone enhancement, moulded and carved horn trigger-guard bow and lower tang cover, single set trigger for the rifle barrel, plain for the shot barrel and replacement white metal tipped ramrod
