circa 1900, with two-stage 22in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, the top right hand flat of barrel signed 'J. STEVENS A.& T Co., CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. USA. PAT APR. 17.94', calibre designation to left hand top-flat, plain action with blued falling block and central hammer, walnut butt-stock with chequered hard rubber heel-plate marked 'STEVENS FAVORITE' in a banner, 'S' shaped finger lever, take down nut with integral swivel forwards of action and smooth walnut splinter fore-end, traces of original finish remaining
