French or Belgian circa 1840 and similar to a System Pauly (q.v), the break-open octagonal 8in. smooth-bore barrel utilising a separate large fulminate cap and a small chalk or wax projectile, small blade fore-sight and standing notch rear-sight, scroll engraved boxlock action with external cocking 'hammer' on the right hand side and barrel locking wingnut on the left, fluted walnut grip with iron spire pommel, spurred trigger-guard bow and set trigger
