circa 1895, with blued 26in. side by side barrels, the matted raised flat top-rib signed in gilt within a rectangular panel 'V. HAFNER KGL HOFBUCHSENMACHER CASSEL', inlaid gold lines at breech, dove-tailed front and rear sights, rounded chisel engraved brushed bright triple-bite action featuring depictions of stags, boars and hounds against a ground of vines, carved percussion fences, flush fitting folding peep-sight set into the top-tang, chisel engraved back-action locks, each featuring a central deer against a field of vines, engraved hammers, chequered walnut semi pistol grip butt-stock with raised cheek-piece and inlet at toe with a chisel engraved cartridge magazine for four rounds, replacement hard rubber ribbed heel-plate with white-line spacer, set triggers for both barrels, the trigger guard bow with a gilt monogram within an oval border surmounted by a crown and smooth splinter fore-end (tip absent), refinished
