circa 1900, with octagonal 25 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat signed behind the rear-sight 'J. VENABLES & SON, ST. ALDATES OXFORD', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, open borderline and scroll engraved iron frame with central hammer and side-lever opening, walnut chequered pistol-grip butt-stock with iron heel-plate and horn pistolgrip cap, chequered walnut splinter fore-end and strong traces of finish
