A 54-BORE PERCUSSION SELF-COCKING SIDE-HAMMER REVOLVER, MODEL 'PATENT', serial no. 1614 (WR102125),
circa 1850, with blued octagonal 6in. barrel, beaded blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, radiused muzzle, the left hand side of barrel mount marked 'MANGEOT & COMBLAIN BREVETES', border and foliate engraved plain six-shot cylinder, borderline and foliate engraved open iron frame, sculpted side-hammer, socket to rear of cylinder arbor, push-button safe, chequered walnut flared grip (old cracks, small loss), engraved domed grip-cap and moulded trigger-guard with manual trigger-stop, articulated rammer fitted to right hand side of barrel (bent out of true), strong amount of finish remaining
